Soriano DFA
— Lohud Yankees Blog (@LoHudYankees) July 6, 2014
Alfonso Soriano has been designated for assignment by the New York Yankees to make room for Bruce Billings on the 40 man and 25 man roster. It's been a tough season and I have been calling for this all season long but I have a pit in my stomach while reporting it. Good luck Sori, it's not over for you I hope.

Not that I like seeing anybody lose their job, this was a long time coming.
ReplyDeleteWait a sec... what do I care about Soriano losing his job? The guy is making $19 million this season regardless.
I like that it gives a youngster a chance, which could help for next year.
ReplyDeleteAmen Bryan!
DeleteI feel like either Adonis Garcia or Jose Pirela will get called up after we run Bruce Billings arm into the ground and we DFA him. I like it.
ReplyDeleteNot that I'm giving up on this season, but it's time the Yankees saw what the kids can do for next year and beyond. Seems like as good a time as any for an audition, since even if they fail then we're not in any worse position than we already are.
DeleteWe don't agree on every subject Bryan but, in this case I think we are of the same mind set!
DeleteExactly. Why spend big money on a guy that is going to hit .220? Can Pirela/Garcia not do that?
DeleteI don't know about the arm of Billings falling off part but, as far as call-ups go; either one would do for me.
ReplyDeleteIF Billings has so much trouble with his shoulder, why not switch he and Warren? I understand Warren will loose some speed on his fastball but, he is a starter with good stuff. Could Billings work out of the BP is the question, I think!
The problem lies in the fact it will take at least a month for Warren to get stretched out. A month that will fall back on a weakened bullpen. A bullpen that's already overworked. If you're going to stretch out Warren you do it in the Dominican Winter League, not the Bronx in July in the middle of a pennant race.
