CC Sabathia Going On The 15-Day DL

It doesn't sound like anything to be worried about, so you fans can step back from the edge of the cliff/bridge/"high place". CC went for an MRI on August 5th and it came back clean. Yeah that was "August 5th", and he started on August 8th. So you can tell it's nothing big, since the Yankees are famous for being overly careful with possible injuries.

That's why CC only went 103 pitches in his start on the 3rd, and then only 94 pitches on his start 5 days later. Girardi wanted to be careful and make sure he was okay instead of pushing Sabathia like he normally would.

Originally, as you probably heard, the idea was just to have CC skip his start on Monday, but they decided to "wipe it out" (Girardi's words) this way. I'm sure the current win streak, and the team seemingly turning things around, had a big affect on this decision.

  1. Damn I take a 4 hour nap and I come back and Ivan Nova remembers how to pitch and CC Sabathia goes on the DL... what the fuck.

Also if it is "no big deal" then they shouldnt have let him start that start and the DL trip could be retroactive...

    1. Well, yeah. If it was a big deal, then that's what would have happened. Do I wish that happened now? Of course, but it goes to show you just how little concern the team has since he tossed 94 pitches on the 8th anyway.

    2. I was looking and it only looks like he will miss 2 starts and one of them is against Ryan Dempster so I think we can be ok. I mean we just got Derek Lowe....

    3. I didn't know we got Lowe. Yipee! /sarcasm

I see that David Phelps is going to get the start Monday. I'm sure they'll wait to see how he does before even thinking about CC's second missed start.

Good to know Sabathia won't miss much.

  2. Hey guys, long time no comment...

    A. That sign is hilarious
    B. CC said that he's dealt with this before and just pitched through it until it went away. Hopefully this is the same thing and rest will make it better.

    1. It's hard to take a player seriously, as they will always downplay the significance of an injury. But I too hope this is like the times before, and he'll lead us to and through the postseason.

    2. Last time CC thought he was fine he pitched through soreness and went to the DL and missed some 3-4 weeks and the All Star Game.

    3. Well I guess we'll see what happens. My gut feeling is that this is less serious than the soreness that forced him to miss 3-4 weeks.

  3. He has already pitched once, rather effectively I might add, against Detroit since the soreness came back. Im not worried at all.
