New York Yankees Spring Training News & Notes 3/16

Jacoby Ellsbury was scratched form today's game with a tight calf, a calf injury that apparently he could play through. Interim manager Rob Thomson said that Ellsbury could have played through it had this been the regular season but since it was the spring the Yankees wanted to be cautious. Understandable I guess since it's only the middle of March, long season to go.

Tyler Austin is supposed to take batting practice tomorrow on the field and could be in games next week, great news after his wrist has hampered him once again this spring. Brendan Ryan is doing tee and toss today and is ready for a full team workout tomorrow. Ryan could also be in a game somewhere around Wednesday next week.
