Rain postpones tonight's Yankees/Pirates game

Right when they start to win.

Tonight's Yankees/Pirates game in The Bronx has been postponed due to inclement weather, MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports.

The contest's starters, David Phelps and Edinson Volquez, are still scheduled to start tommorrow's contest, which will begin at 4:05 pm ET.

On Sunday, the cancellation's effects will show, as the Bombers and Bucs will play a back-to-back double header starting at 1:05. After the conclusion of the first game, both teams will take a short 30 minute break, before beginning the series' finale sometime in the late afternoon.

Unfortunately, fans who had tickets to this evening's ill-fated game will not be able to get into the last day duo, unless an exchange is made.

As for where the games can be seen, Saturday's Game 1 will still be televised nationally on Fox Sports 1, while the other two will also be available for viewing everywhere on MLB Network.

So, if you're a Yankees fan then I guess there's absolutely no excuse to miss this weekend. The series is between two powerhouses off to slow starts (Pittsburgh's 17-23, New York's 21-19), making it something that big baseball fans should really want to see.

  1. As I was waiting for them to call the game to-night I thought I would look up some stats on a few players. What I found was very much as I knew it was but, those that can't read or understand what they read have another impression of the stats.
Babe Ruth is not considered the Sultan of Swat for nothing, if one looks at his numbers closely you can figure out what most of us HAD always known.
He was the greatest all around hitter in the history of the game, bar none. If there has ever been a better player than The Babe I would like to have you address this, players reason for best all around hitter.

    1. Just curious, and I'm not waiting to come back with an answer or anything like that, what stats were you looking at when determining Ruth's value?

    2. I said he rates as the BEST All Round Hitter, not the best All Round Player! I just didn't find anyone to show him as not being the best hitter.
      You don't agree with me?

    3. I didn't say that I agreed or disagreed, I was simply asking what stats you used.
