I may or may not have made the mistake of asking some of our Twitter followers what they thought about the Alex Rodriguez hand-written apology letter. I received a few hundred mentions, favorites, retweets, etc. and surprisingly there was a mixed bag of thoughts concerning the matter and Alex himself.
Some resorted to calling him a DEA informant….
@GreedyStripes he was obviously limited as to what he could say due to the fact that his current status is that he is a DEA informer

Many were negative….
@GreedyStripes Mistakes is a weasel word. Hand-copied from text written by lawyers and PR experts.

@GreedyStripes @MichaelPawluk I'd definitely think it was staged.

@GreedyStripes all I can say is he is a scumbag who took millions from New York. I believe he cheated his entire career. Let's see what he

@GreedyStripes I was on his side for too long. He is a bigger DB every time he opens his mouth. He needs to STFU, and stick his head...
— TJ Jewell (@TeeJayJewell) February 18, 2015
@GreedyStripes its crap. He isn't remorseful, he should've just had a press conference and said his business and left it alone

But some were surprisingly positive and put the team first.
@GreedyStripes Let's just play ball... he did what he did.. he said what he said... time to get between the lines and play the game

@GreedyStripes It is finally good to hear from the horses mouth. I hope he comes 100% clean after his career is over.

@GreedyStripes it was what I expected. doesn't bother me that players take peds. It bothers me that MLB picks & chooses who it disciplines

@GreedyStripes time heels all wounds but a ring will shut up the haters.

@GreedyStripes Time to move on. Until all of us have lived a perfect life and haven't made a mistake or two, then let's play ball!
— Christopher Michiels (@BrahmaBull71) February 18, 2015
@Joseph_YN26 @GreedyStripes I dont think there is a need to forgive. We can simply put it in the past and look forward now.

The guy is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t. If he
issues the apology he gets crap, if he does it at Yankee Stadium (even though
it was the team’s idea) then his ego is huge and he’s insincere, if he doesn’t
apologize he gets killed in the tabloids. Give the damn guy a break and let him
do what he does best, hit that ball over the fence at Yankee Stadium.
