The New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers will finish up
their three-game set this afternoon inside Comerica Park with another
interesting pitching matchup. This afternoon the Yankees will send Jaime Garcia
to the mound who will be making his fourth start of his Yankees career while
the Tigers will counter with Michael Fulmer. Don’t let Fulmer’s wins and loss
record fool you, he has pitched much better than his record shows so be
careful.
Garcia has an ERA of 6.32 as a starting pitcher for the New
York Yankees which really frustrates me as a fan. Jordan Montgomery needed to
limit his innings but him pitching 3-4 innings a night would be better than
what Garcia has given the Yankees thus far in my opinion. Garcia took a
no-decision against the Mets last time out.
Fulmer has been the victim of poor run support all season
long for the Tigers. Four of Fulmer’s losses this season have come in games
where the Tigers offense was shutout and three of his losses came in which
Fulmer gave up just one run. Fulmer is still a great pitcher, his offense
behind him just isn’t doing him any favors here in 2017.
The game will be played at 1:10 pm ET inside Comerica Park
and can be seen on the YES Network, MLB Network and MLB TV. You can also follow
along in your cars and on the radio by tuning into WFAN with John Sterling and
Suzyn Waldman. Need a win, get a win. Go Yankees!
