What Will It Take For Yankee Bats To Wake Up?

If only I could just hit this button and things would change.

There's a small part of me that thinks the Yankee bats will come alive tomorrow. I know they'll be facing Justin Verlander, and I know the chances of that happening are a lot closer to "none" than to "slim, but I can't think of anything else that could wake this offense up.

The leader of the team, and future Hall of Famer, Derek Jeter fought through injury after injury in order to keep playing. Seeing Derek scream after going down, I can't imagine the pain he was going through. And I broke my kneecap after falling off a ladder last summer, so I'm not exactly a stranger to pain. It's incredible that it would even take a broken ankle for the rest of the team to look at Mr. Jeter and get fired up. How could this man not inspire you every time you step onto a baseball field.

I thought that change could happen in Game 2, the game after Derek was knocked out of the rest of the postseason. But maybe a day off to stop and think will help.

I realize that I'm being even more optimistic here than I normally would. I mean, it's not like this team has only struggled with the bats for a couple of games. No... this team hasn't hit a lick outside of the 9th inning of Game 1 in the ALDS against the Orioles.

I'm probably setting myself up for a bigger disappointment than this movie was.

Then again, if I thought any more about what Verlander may do to the Yankees tomorrow night, then I may grab a pen and shove it in each eye, so I don't have to see it.
