Dariel Alvarez Is Free To Sign With Any Team

Cuban defector and big time prospect Dariel Alvarez has been cleared by the Commissioners Office to sign a contract with a major league team. Since Dariel, going with the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, is over 23 years old (he is 24 years old) and has more than the minimum of three years of professional baseball under his belt he will be an unrestricted free agent. Dariel will not be part of the International free agent spending cap that the new CBA brought when it was signed.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox, Kansas City Royals, Seattle Mariners, Arizona Diamondbacks, San Diego Padres, and New York Yankees are said to be the teams interested in Dariel's services. Dariel is capable of playing all three outfield positions and is praised for his strong throwing arm so the Yankees should definitely do what they have to do to sign this guy. We have missed the boat, no pun intended, on too many of these IFA's lately and need a big splash.
