This Day In Yankees History 6/3


On this day in 1932 Lou Gehrig becomes the first player in the 20th century to blast four home runs in a single game. Lou also barely missed a fifth home run in the game in Philadelphia. The Yankees also set a major league record with 50 total bases in a 20-13 slug fest victory.


On this day in 1998 El Duque Orlando Hernandez, only six months removed from escaping Cuba on a boat, beat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 7-1 in his major league debut.


On this day in 2003 Derek Jeter was named the 11th Yankees Captain in their storied history.
