This Day In New York Yankees History 11/2

On this day in 1964 the Columbia Broadcasting System becomes the first corporate owner of a Major League Baseball team when they bought 80% of the New York Yankees. Dan Topping and Del Webb sold the stake in the Yankees for a staggering $11.2 million at the time. The Yankees would reward CBS with a sixth place finish in the American League and a second place finish in the American League East in their first year of ownership with a 77-85 record.

On this day in 1985 a great Yankees fan Daniel Burch was born in Lebanon Hospital in the Bronx, New York. He would go on to co own and create the "greatest Yankees blog ever" in his own very humble and biased opinion. Hey it was a slow day in New York Yankees history, sue me.

  1. Happy birthday, Mr. Daniel Burch.......Sir.
Weather Greedy Pinstripes is the " greatest Yankees blog ever "....only time will tell.
What you did get, was a boost from the castaways, who were released from their bondage at Yankee
Fans Unite. A most talented group of blogging refugees, that were never appreciated.
Of that bunch....a most spirited trio, who were born out of the late, wonderful, iYankees.
Happy birthday Daniel, enjoy the day.

  2. Well thank you Patrick. The greatest blog ever was serious sarcasm, we're not even close to that yet. That is not even really the goal to be honest, we just wanna have fun.

  3. HB....... from the Wasp..... soon you will be getting a birthday present from Patrick and I, his essay which I promised you will be our gift to you. His use of words will astound you, his knowledge of Yankee lore will amaze you, his colorful language will entertain you....

    1. Thank you Wasp. Can't wait to read it, time is running out unless its a late bday present though

  4. also Happy Birthday from the stable......iTarsier, Bell J., Bang, Norabel and the Black Widow Liz.
