Predicting The MVP's In 2014

I absolutely bombed these predictions last year picking Albert Pujols and Matt Kemp, both of which who missed major time due to injury and had lackluster seasons. Maybe I will do better this season with my MVP predictions, only time will tell.

For the American League MVP I think Robinson Cano will finally get the respect and recognition he deserves since he is not a member of the New York Yankees anymore. He has home run power as well as double power and should see those numbers come out again in 2014. He will play at least the first season of his mega contract with a chip on his shoulder, he may even run out a ground ball or two.

For the National League MVP I thought about putting Clayton Kershaw here again but decided that the closer Giancarlo Stanton gets to free agency the healthier and better he would get. That's why I am picking Stanton to finally play 150+ games, carry the Marlins to more than 60 wins in a season, and win the MVP award. Probably will not be a landslide, especially on a losing team, and will have plenty of competition but I think the time is now for Mike Stanton.

  1. I'm going to agree with you on Stanton. I think he's the type of player you give your top 5 prospects for, and then back the Brinks truck up into his driveway. But I'm not buying the Cano thing. I've lived in Idaho for 9 years now, so naturally I follow the Mariners a little bit. I haven't seen 1 single player go to Seattle and not see his stats regress.

  2. I thought about going with Pujols but I did last year with him and Matt Kemp and they had the worst seasons of their careers so maybe I was going with reverse psychology. lol

  3. Don't get me wrong, I'm not rooting against Cano. I just think he's going to have a hard time in Seattle. I'd be surprised if he's not already regretting his choice. Huge ballpark and no support. He should have taken what the Yankees offered. New York's market would have more than made up the difference in endorsements.

  4. Over and under for some of the players I checked on;
    Beltan 100 RBIs...under!
    Jeter hitting,300+ under!
    Tex 30 HR...under!
    Brett hitting 280...over!
These are the numbers as an avg. I didn't vote.

    1. Of course Mr Reed has Jeter under .300. More Jeter hate.

    2. Daniel.....you run a great blog here. I love it. My father loved it. But all this Jeter hate coming from one commenter is staining what is your crowning achievement......Greedy Pinstripes.

    3. Well as I have never silenced or stopped yourself, your father, or anyone for that matter from expressing their opinion and God given rights I will give the same respect to Mr. Reed.

It's not fun if everyone agrees anyway, you know? If everyone agreed it would be one big circle jerk. I don't like circle jerks, I don't like jerks at all :)

    4. Good answer Daniel. But Mr Jeter does not deserve the abuse that is thrown at him everyday by Mr. Reed. What do you think he has against Jeter?

    5. He has what everyone has against Jeter. Jeter either stole his girl or his mother. Stole mine once. My mother I mean. I hate the guy for it but I love my little brother...

    NL MVP: Bryce Harper

    1. Harper!!? Fox Sports polled 143 baseball players and Harper was deemed the most overrated player in the game. I tend to agree.

    2. He has bulked up a ton though this season. If he stays healthy he can be right there in my opinion.

    3. I've actually watched a couple of National games this spring. He does look pretty good. I just think he's got character issues. He's arrogant, and I don't like that.

    4. Tons of guys were arrogant and it made them great at what they did. Ken Griffey Jr, since you mentioned earlier rooting for the Mariners a little, was very arrogant. He was great, maybe one of the best of all time before injuries derailed his career. I like guys who are good and know it, that's always been my personality though. I am the anti Jeter I guess lol.

    5. Can't argue with you on the arrogance of Griffey, or the fact that some great ballplayers have been classic jerks. I'm just more of a Jeter/Chipper/Wright type of ballplayer. If you're good, your actions will speak for themselves.

  6. I have had it with that fat ass twisting things I write to suit his Rose colored glasses.
Enough of this shit, I'm too old to play word games with an idiot, that discounts stats and can't understand what he reads! I am out of here as long as that ass hole is allowed here ...Good by and good luck!

    1. That's very unfortunate that you cannot ignore the man that is probably purposely doing this to run you off... Your choice though. I don't agree with it.

    2. And not to stick up for him but he made a comment about you saying Jeter would hit under .300, and you did. That's all I see that he said... He wasn't twisting anything.

  7. Thank you Daniel. You are correct. I did not twist anything . Mr. Reed DID comment that Jeter would hit below .300.
You are a good man Daniel and unbiased.

  9. A CLUSTER OF NUTS...has landed at Daniel's feet....... A Stuckey's Pecan Log.
That is what came here, from Yankee Fans Unite.
A three nut cluster. One is worse than the other. Myself, most likely the worst of the litter.

Now the Rocket has run out of town.....again. With his marbles. What happened to stand, and fight ?
And, I know those two girls/women, in the above Gravatar. I may of posted to one of them once.
Did we all lose our minds at the YFU conveyor belt ? I know I have post traumatic stress disorder,
from my bannings. Maybe all three of us do ?
This is not who we are. We act like crazed women.

Daniel....I speak for myself, only., when I say......if I was out of line, I apologize.
You have been kind, and more then fair with all three of us.
My laundry, should have stayed in the sack. And, not hung out for all to see.

As for my two blogging brothers, they a good guys. Four years together, in foreign blogging trenches,
has made the three of us different. Being different, is included, in our packaging.

Rocket Reed....come home. Jeter is not that important.
Tommy Twasp...there is no reason to push those buttons any longer.
Me, patrick....I'll continue to light candles. But, I think it's time for a beer.

  10. You have nothing to apologize for Patrick. I just hate that it has to come to this. I love all three if you guys like brothers. We're family, I hope I can be included anyway, and family fights and forgives. I hope this is all this is. I enjoy speaking with you guys Ina. Daily basis
