Cashman wants more pitching, but finds it "really hard" to find right now

Going into tonight's game against the Mets, it's no secret that the Yankees are in trouble.

Baseball's second-richest team, who spent over a half billion dollars this offseason improving their roster, have started the 2014 season with 18 losses in 37 games, the new guys' lack of production and the starting rotation's inability to stay healthy a big part of those struggles.

Despite that, GM Brian Cashman still seems to believe that the team's fine, claiming in a recent NJ.com article that, while he wants more pitching, it's "really hard" to find right now.

"Oh, I'd be open to any external options," Cashman said. "But they're really hard to find this time of year."

That may be true, but the way I look at it: when stuff's really hard to get you just gotta adjust. Not by accepting that you can't get that talented arm from a selling team, but by becoming willing to give up more. Sure, that can be dumb, but as the YES Network's John Flaherty recently said, "the can't-miss prospect is usually the guy you wanna you let go." I think that's completely true in this case, seeing as the Yanks have a team capable of winning this year if they can just pull things together.

  3. NOT ROCKET SCIENCE :
20 %, or so, into the season. This is what the 2014 Yankees are, .500.
In truth, they may not even be .500. They get worse daily. And, now players are falling by
the road. The first vision to cross my mind ?.....The Bataan Death March, of WWll.
Nuno, and Aceves..saviors ? Keep marching.

Yankee management. Step up, and earn your money.

  4. DID I FAIL TO MENTION........
That Non-Masahiro Tanaka starters have a 4.95 ERA this season. That is fact.
    Keep marching.

  5. FUNNY, A FAUX FAT BOY SLIM :
Sometimes in life, a moment in time will put you into the kabuki theater, we call blogging.

Today, as I worked at the nursery, I had one of those kabuki moments.
As I'm toiling with bags of soil, I hear voices that are foreign to me. I look over in the direction, from where the voices are originating, and I see a middle eastern family. A husband, and wife, dressed
in their ethnic clothing. And, an over weight son, who is not dressed as they.

The over weight boy is wearing one of those under shirts, that have no sleeves.
Old Italian men, used to wear those things in my time. While wearing the skimpy shirt, they also
wore their best shoes, with white socks, while wearing filthy pants. Like they just changed the motor oil.

The over weight boy....is a dead ringer for Fat Boy Slim, Twasp's emblem. From the large head,
to the bulked up body. Amazing, how the two looked alike.
Maybe it was Twasp's son. Maybe the father was...., well you can only guess. Who knows ?

I stood there, and laughed to myself. Can't make this stuff up. A faux fat boy.
Just thought I'd pass part of my day along to you guys. I thought it funny.

Nice win tonight. The wheels must be put back on track. They know it. You know it.

  6. Jack...
Just remember, Cashman is unfit for his job and is a goof.!? Oh, you say, you didn't get that memo, hay what?
Some fans would have us give up the FARM for a #4 or #5 pitcher and I say then what do we do come 2015 ?

    No, I don't think so.

  8. Daniel Burch, sir.................I owe you a better explanation. Than, " No, I don't think so. "

No, it is not a shame. To your credit, you run a tight ship, with updated articles by you, and the crew
changing at a rapid pace daily. That is why I can not put up a part ll, etc.

My words are spontaneous, on the fly. The moment dictates, where I go.
I tend to run a bit long. But, I feel when I do, I can be more creative. But, the bottom line is....I want folks to
read my words. I have more of a chance of someone reading my words in the comments section.
At times, my words can be pulled up for 24-36 hours. Depending on the days events.

That does not happen on your rapidly changing GP field. A couple of hours...........gone.
Makes no sense to spend great lengths of time creating, like Ken has done, only to have it moved along
with hardly anyone aware it was even there.

    Not your fault, just reality.
I spent some time, thinking about what I was going to you tonight.
I hope I offered clarification, on my part.......................................patrick.

    1. I guess that makes sense and is understandable. While it may not spend much time on the front page the google searches are where you get 90%+ of your views and they are mostly after the fact anyway. Either way I'm just glad you're here, in any capacity.

    2. Amen to all that...
In a comment one can be wrong and someone will correct you.
As Daniel has pointed out to me (a time or two), articles must be true facts, not twisted facts or just mistakes.
I don't know about Patrick but it takes me forever to type one article, and a day or two looking up all the facts.
I like the Opinion articles best, anyhow!

  9. WHY ?....Does Steven Drew's name keep coming up daily, linked to the Yankees ?

Every dam day, some where, some way, we need him ? Really ?...........And why ?
As presently constituted, he may not be better than what the Yanks have. I think he is not.
He will not make a difference here. And, he will be a major money signing.

Go away, Drew rumors, go far away.

Save the money for a solid pitcher, if the opportunity presents itself.
It must, if this team is going to advance. I really think Sabathia is done. Unless you are content with his 5 plus ERA, and his ranking as one of the worst starters in MLB. Or, just leave him alone, as he is on a road
to allowing 30 HRS this season. It's over.

Pitching will drive the years squad. Right now, " Driving Miss Daisy ", does not cut it.
Yes, the season shows hope. But corrections MUST be made.

    * The Yankees win today, hit five home runs, and aside from two people....no one can put up a post ?

I have been out in my yard doing the things one does in the yard! Everyday, is a new project to work on. Right now, I am working on my creek in the back yard, so needless to say, I have been busy doing landscaping of my own.
      Have a good cold one!

Rocket...this is the time of year, to do such chores. Do not over do it. This cold one, is for you.

Ellijay...my computer went on the dark side, a few years back. Hopefully for different reasons.
Not knowing anything about computers, I stayed up one night, and went exploring on the
internet. A few beers later, and midgets on the porno site, I went to bed.
Big time mistake. I woke up in the morning to female madness.

The computer developed a virus, and crashed.
Mrs. patrick, threatened to disown me. Irish women get right to the point.

I replaced the computer. Mrs. patrick got a big time monitor, and was calmed down. Thank god.
And, I no longer watch midgets.

I can surmise, that you were watching midgets, being brought into hotel rooms in a suitcase, also ?

If you are use to the PC I say; stay with it!
