Former two-time All-Star and member of the New York Yankees
Luis Arroyo has passed away today after his battle with cancer, he was 88-years
old. Arroyo was a former Yankee and World Series winner in 1961 behind the big
bats of Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris.
Arroyo was the first Puerto Rican-born player to play for
the Yankees in the team’s storied history when he joined them in 1960. Arroyo
made the World Series in 1960 and was one out and one shot heard round the
world away from a pair of World Series rings with the club.
Rest in peace to Mr. Arroyo and our condolences go out to
the family, friends and anyone who was affected. RIP.
