Thank You For Such a Wonderful 2016 Season

What a season 2016 has been both for the New York Yankees and for us here at The Greedy Pinstripes. We've been doing this a long time now and somehow every season just keeps on getting better and better for us. Views are up. Twitter followers are up. Comments are up. The number of varying views and different writers are up (with another on the way soon so look out for that sometime next week). We introduced TGP T-Shirts, we introduced the "It's Not What You Want" Podcast brought to you by The Greedy Pinstripes and so much more.

162 games, 162 game thread not including spring training, the All-Star Game and exhibition games. So many Meet a Prospect posts. So much of everything and you know what? We're going to do it all again next year.

None of this is possible without our readers, commenters, followers, friends and family. Thank you. We are nothing without you and we fully realize and appreciate that, and you. Thank you again for another great season and don't worry, while some blogs go to sleep for the winter we don't here at TGP. Stay tuned, we're just getting started.

  1. Daniel You guys did a great job and I enjoyed most of the year with a few hiccups along the way. My prediction did come true that the Yanks would finish 4th or 5th. I think along the lines as Patrick as they need to start acting like a 3.4 Billion dollar organizations. I saw some good things happen with the youth being brought up and the exits of Arod and now Tex.

Once again Refsnyder got screwed and I'm not sure why this continues to happen. Headley and McCann and Gardner are a few of the names that need to exit the building. I'm not sold on Judge at all and I would include him on a package .The pitching is a nightmare and if CC turns out to be your second best starter what does that say? I will say that I thought the elf did a decent job in his trades. I would've like to have seen a big arm coming back that was either in triple A or next year ready to make the move to the majors. Again the elf went for the A ball type player. I'm actually concerned that he will trade a guy like Frazier who I think can be a big stud in the coming years.

Hal you cheap bastard you need to spend some money and it needs to start with Champan. I don't want to hear about getting under the tax cap as this clown is charging enough money to go to the stadium. We would like to see a return on our investments when we spend hundreds of dollars to watch a game in person.

I like Patrick did not watch a full game this year and I would suspect that viewership was down as was revenue at the park. I don't want to see a guy like Hill as a SP on our staff. Go get Sonny Gray or someone like him. Girardi needs to be put on notice for next year that he either gets us to the playoffs or its time for him to leave the building as well. Ever since Hal took over mediocrity has been accepted and please don't let the BS of its WS win or bust ever creep into ones mind ever again. It's all about the Benjamin's with the Clipper.

    1. Come on guys, get real! This is not the year to spend money and put us over the cap again. We HAVE to get UNDER the Cap which gives us a chance to spend money on some guys that will be on the market in 2018.
I have not looked it up yet but IF things go right we could go for one big name player and maybe Miller for closer.
Look, I am 79 years old now and am willing to wate another year...you guys are still kids, with more time than I have, show a little patience.
We have NO reason to trust Hal but...have we any other choice?

    2. Hans,

you definitely had the team listed as a 4th or 5th place team. You were right, I was wrong. I had them winning the second Wild Card in my preseason predictions which would have placed them third. It looked like a good prediction for a while, then reality hit. Oh well, maybe next year.

It was a good year though overall and I think it will only be a stepping stone for 2017. Big contracts and veterans out, youth in. Fill the team with you then start plugging the gaps in free agency in 2018 and 2019. Dynasty achieved.

  2. DANIEL....The thank you was sweet, but not required.

( Ken told me to use the word...sweet. Like his FUBAR terminology,
sweet..... it must mean something also.)

I now think Ken Hans may be my missing brother.

My poor mother, before her passing, mentioned something about a landscaper, and a ladder at her window one night.
We, the family, all laughed as she spoke. But now I have Ken Hans agreeing with me, more often then not.

    2. Being brothers would explain an awful lot.... brothers fight like cats and dogs but if you mess with one the other comes in and is right there like nothing ever happened.

patrick and Hans.. brothers.... what a sight.

  3. BROTHER HANS....If you, and Ken Reed, and I .....had to go on
the road to promote our insight, who fills the void posting here ?
Who is Skippy ? Is that a Jersey thing ?

    1. Skippy could be a Jersey thing, not sure on that. Yes we seem to be the only true posters along with Levin and Daryl. I have been to other sights and though I don't agree with Burch most of the time, I feel these guys put their hearts into the blog and for that I appreciate their efforts. Keep up the good work Burch
