This Day in New York Yankees History 2/24: Ed Lopat, Come on Down

On this day in 1948 the Chicago White Sox traded Ed Lopat to the New York Yankees for Aaron Robinson, Bill Wright, and Fred Bradley.

  1. This guy was a great "PITCHER" he had good C&C which allowed him to put his pitches where he wanted to...most every time. He had to because he didn't really have what we call a fastball...it was fast enough to get by with but that is all.
What he did have was, the ability to throw the same pitch from different angles with good movement. In other words, he was a junk pitcher that was one of the better pitchers on the team most of his time with the team. He would talk pitching with anyone at any time even young kids if they really wanted to learn.
