Bucky Dent was acquired from the Chicago White Sox for Oscar Gamble, future Cy Young Award winner LaMarr Hoyt, Bob Polinsky and cash. Dent hit a home run in the one-game playoff against the Boston Red Sox in 1978, thus earning the nickname "Bucky F'in Dent."
