On this day in 1999 Joe Torre returned to the Yankees after missing the teams first 36 games after undergoing successful prostate cancer surgery. The game was played in Fenway Park but Torre still received a standing ovation from the Boston crowd. The Red Sox would beat the Yankees 6-3.
