This Day In New York Yankees History 8/18

On this day in 1989 Bucky "F'in" Dent replaced Dallas Green as the new manager for the New York Yankees. This would be the 17th time the Yankees changed managers in George Steinbrenner's 17 year tenure as the owner.

On this day in 2006 the Yankees and the Red Sox played the longest nine inning game to date in Major League history. The Yankees beat the Red Sox in Fenway Park in a slugfest 14-11 victory. Combined the teams got 34 hits in their four hours and forty give minute game. One team scored in nine of the 18 half innings played.
