Hey!

My name is Thomas Culkin and I just wanted to take a brief moment to introduce myself. I recently joined the writing staff at The Greedy Pinstripes and am very grateful for the opportunity. I was born on Long Island, New York in 1994 but have lived in south Florida since '05. Being in south Florida gives me the awesome opportunity to explore the Grapefruit league and Florida State League every year. I live within an hour of the Tampa Rays, Baltimore Orioles, Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates and most importantly the New York Yankees spring training complexes. With spring training 2014 right around the corner I am excited to have connected with The Greedy Pinstripes when I did and will use my proximity to these teams to fuel my writing. Thanks again to the leadership at The Greedy Pinstripes and I look forward to this awesome opportunity!

  1. Mr. Culkin sir...Welcome. I too, am a Long Island native.
I live on the southern shore, directly above Jones Beach, in the town of Wantagh.
My curiosity compels me to ask, where did your family live in your early years ?
This site is strong, and the talent surrounding it continues to grow.
I wish you all the best. Will talk further, as we move along.

    1. Thanks Patrick, in my early years I was raised not too far from Wantagh in Lindenhurst. All my family still resides on the island and I visit several times a year.

  2. Damn, another kid joins the team of writers! When will Daniel ever get someone that knows more than Jeter is one of the greatest players ever and A-Rod is a worm?

Just kidding Thomas...welcome to the think tank of baseball...I think!!!?!

    1. Haha thanks Ken, I welcome your skepticism and hope that you'll realize there are actually some brains left out there (at least I like to think so).

    2. Mr. C...
Oh, I know some of you young whippersnappers have a brain somewhere in that Yuppy head of yours. And I hope you have a good handle on the Saber stuff, I use it only to pinpoint a problem, I use my eyes and a lot of years playing to help me find a solution.

I had a 20 line dissertation all written but, the damn thing just decided to tell me it was too long and disappeared...it is out there somewhere, just floating around in space! LOL

I am not skeptical at all, I know history begins when one joins the world, the trick is...one must read history to understand the times we now live in! History repeats itself over and over!

You must have a good sense of humor, around here..watch out for that Irishman (Patrick)!
Question; Is your family from the British Islands? No need to answer, just wondering!?
Have fun and, looking forward to your classes!

    4. Patrick...
Me Irish Lad, the name Culkin seems like I have heard it before with an Northern British accent!
Just wondering that's all! More of a Scottish twang I think! No matter...just asked that's all.
I am up around 0400 every day and walk 5 to 7 miles every morning, keeps these 76 year old bones happy.
So, to answer your question...the long way around...nope can't make it, my mornings are very buzzwazzy...contract work for my old employers, dogs and walking.
You are one crazy Irishman, jumping into the river in the winter. Hell, I don't open my pool until it is 80 degrees or above!
Have fun at the class, the kid seems like he has a brain.
