Can't Predict Baseball: Perfect Game Star Turns Yankee

On this day in 1924 future New York Yankees starter Bump Hadley throws a perfect game against the Hadley-Lynn team of Massachusetts. The Mercersburg Academy standout strikes out 26 of the 27 batters he faced. Career pitching line with the Yankees you ask? 49-31 record, 4.28 ERA, 1.531 WHIP, and a 5.3 WAR in five seasons.

On this day in 1933 Washington Senators catcher Luke Sewell tagged out two New York Yankees runners trying to score on the same play. Lou Gehrig and Dixie Walker are the victims of this unusual play at home plate.

You really can't predict baseball.
