Jacoby Ellsbury Steals Home Open Thread

I saw something live, well I was watching it on television but I was watching it on TV live so that's close enough, that I have never seen live in my time as a baseball fan. Jacoby Ellsbury stole home on a 3-2 count Friday night against the Tampa Bay Rays and lefty Matt Moore. This excited the hell out of me and when I threw my arms up in celebration I almost hit my six-year old in the face. It was an exciting and a rare feat and it was my first, something I didn't think I could say after watching baseball for some 25 years now.

So let's relive it again and talk about it, or anything really, in this open thread for the evening. The Yankees game is done for the day and the team is likely already on a plane flying to Texas for a set against the Texas Rangers. Have a good evening Yankees family!

  1. Yea, I've never seen it before. Men on first and third, double steal yes. Never this.

  2. Jackie Robinson stole home in the WS against Yogi! I think I saw that replay 50 times over the years and have not been able to tell if he was out or not. Yogi says he was out but he was not the ump!

    1. He was out. Unless he did some sort of ninja move with his hands that the umps could see and I couldn't the ball beat Jackie by a mile and the tag was down when he slid in. He was out.

    2. Yes, I also saw that but, they say Yogi was in the back of the plate and therefore tagged him after he touched home plate! Anyhow, as far as I am concerned he was out...Yogi said so to his dying day!

  3. What do you guys think about having Judge come up and let Beltran DH and maybe have Heathcott in the place of Hicks if he is out for a few days.

    1. Heathcott or Gamel, because they are both lefty. Having Judge and one of the two will let them still play the righty/lefty game and keep Beltran from getting wore out.

    2. I'm okay with Judge coming up because he can play outfield and DH or simply just play the outfield. I'm the wrong guy to ask though, I'm all about the prospects.

  4. Whetting the palate... I'd like it, and I like heathcott, but I think they will bring up swisher, if that's allowed, not sure what his contract is.

    1. They think A-Rod will only miss the Texas games and Hick is still up in the air on how long he will be out.
They can't play with only 23 players.
Swisher is a shell of himself, we have many better options!

  5. I agree, but I'm thinking it's a $ and time thing. Calling up judge for a week starts his clock. As with gamel, leaving heathcott and refs. And we know they hate refs.

I agree with your comment, I have given up on the front office.

    1. They won't start the clock on Judge with Swisher available. If they call up anyone, and they have plenty of room on the 40 man roster, it will be Swisher.

Swisher will be this year's Chris Capuano. Come up, DFA, go down. Rinse, repeat, recycle.

    2. All true Daniel, but he is a lefty. We need a power right handed bat! Anyone other than those two guys you can think of?

Sorry for the Capatcha... Blame the Russians :)
