Good morning Yankees family and a very happy 4th
of July and Independence Day to everyone here in the states. This day would be
just another day if it were not for the veterans and their families who make
the ultimate sacrifice every single day and for that, I thank you.
I hope everyone has a great day. Enjoy the day but also
remember why we have it.
On this day in 1984 Yankees pitcher Phil Niekro becomes only the ninth player every to achieve 3,000 strike outs in his career.
Also on this day in 1983 Dave Righetti threw a no-hitter against the Boston Red Sox inside Yankee Stadium. This marked the first Yankees no-hitter since Don Larsen's perfect game in the 1956 World Series and the first no-hitter by a Yankees left-handed pitcher since George Mogridge did it in 1917. All at age 24.
Also on this day in 1939 the New York Yankees held Lou Gehrig Appreciation Day making Lou's #4 the first ever uniform number retired by the Yankees. Today is the day that Lou donned himself "the luckiest man on the face of the earth."
Finally on this day in 1930 the original "Greedy Pinstripe" was born when the former owner and "Boss" of the New York Yankees, Mr. George Steinbrenner, was born. Also a big happy birthday goes out to John Sterling, Pa Baseball!
What is Memorial Day? Memorial Day to some means the day off
paid, barbecues and hang outs with friends, but to others it means so much
more. To some it means the one day that their families and their serviceman and
women get the recognition and respect that they so much deserve. This Memorial
Day hits home for me especially because one of my very best friends has
recently joined the Navy. This is his second Memorial Day away from home, but
thankfully he got to come home. It won't always be like this, but I am grateful
that it was this year.
So shake a veteran's hand and thank them for everything that they and their
family do. Unless you've lived through it you will never truly understand. So,
a big thank you to the veterans that are reading this and their families, and a
very big thank you to our very own patrick (always with a little p) Walsh and
Ken Reed (and anyone else that frequents the site that I was unaware served or
that slipped my mind). I appreciate you, have the utmost respect for you and
love you all.
Enjoy the day, and enjoy the long weekend, but just remember why we have it.
Thank you.
And baby, four more days… and by the time the Memorial Day
weekend is over, it will be one more day. How exciting!! I love you with all my
heart and all my soul. Always have, and I always will.
Good morning everyone and a Happy Friday to you all. We made
it! Pay day, the weekend, or whatever Friday means to you I hope it is great
for you regardless. Tonight, the Yankees start a three-game weekend set with
the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim which should be fun so stick around for that.
Other than that, this is going to be hopefully a relaxing holiday weekend for
me. I have a couple things to do on Saturday, but other than that I am free! I
love it. That means more time with my family and more time with my baby!
I hope everyone has a good weekend, but I especially hope
that you, my Kari, have a great weekend. I love you. Five more days.
Good morning everyone and a Happy Friday to everyone reading
this on this beautiful morning. This is a special weekend for us all, it is
Mother’s Day weekend! Some may be thinking, well my mother passed away or I don’t
really have a relationship with my mother, and while that sucks it still is
fine. You know why? A person doesn’t have to carry you and grow you in their
body for nine months to be considered a mother, or even your mother. Sometimes
your Aunt has to pick up the slack, or your grandmother, or a beautiful blonde
haired, blue-eyed vixen with an insatiable desire for love has to come in and
remind you just how awesome you are. Hell, there are even single father’s out
there who have to be both, so never feel like you are alone. Ever. But
especially on this day and this weekend.
Make it special and have a great day and a great weekend
everyone. Especially you, the mother that my children always needed. The woman
in my life I always dreamed for and never even knew it. My rock, my mountain,
my world, my everything. My Kari. I love you and I hope you have the very best
Mother’s Day.
A guy wants to take a few days off over the Easter holiday and all hell breaks loose on the Yankees transactions page. Figures, let's get caught back up.
Billy McKinney made his MLB debut on Saturday, and was promptly added to the 10-day disabled list after spraining his shoulder. McKinney ran into the wall in the first inning before exiting the game with the sprain. In a subsequent roster move Miguel Andujar was called up to replace him.
Adam Warren took a line drive off his ankle during the same game, but he was fortunate enough to avoid the disabled list after being diagnosed with a contusion (bone bruise).
Tyler Austin is good.
Dellin Betances is not (yet).
New York signed Oliver Perez to a minor league deal after learning that Giovanny Gallegos will start the Triple-A season on the disabled list with a groin injury. Perez had a non-roster invite to Cincinnati Reds camp this spring and did not impress allowing ten runs, eight hits and four walks for the Reds this spring in just 6.2 inning pitched.
Good morning everyone, and a Good Friday to all if you
celebrate. If not, then just Happy Friday to you as we inch towards the
weekend. Good Friday, according to Wikipedia, is a Christian holiday that
commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary. Jesus
died on Good Friday and was reborn on Easter Sunday. Whether you believe or
not, celebrate the day or not, or whatever you choose to do just make sure it
is a great day regardless. It is another day with Yankees baseball, and it’s a
Friday, so how could it not be? Right?
Have a great day everyone. Especially you. I hope you have
an amazing Friday, because you deserve it. You deserve the world and everything
in it, and I won’t sleep until you have it all. I love you. My rock. My Kari.
My baby.
On this day in history long, long ago George Steinbrenner had one too many beers with that elf on the shelf, put on the ugliest Christmas sweater he could find, bought a slay and went around the world spreading Christmas cheer. He was later named Santa Claus for the Yankees haters because they cannot put aside their differences even on Christmas but that's okay, we continue to pray for the Yankees haters. Long story short this morning you can tell your kids that Santa brought them all their presents but we all know that it was George Steinbrenner who started it all.
Merry Christmas all! And if you don't celebrate Christmas then Happy Holidays. And if you don't celebrate anything I hope that you have a great day anyway and enjoy the paid day off for not believing.... in Santa that is.
Good morning everyone, I hope everyone reading this is well.
I know Thanksgiving isn’t technically until tomorrow but there will be no
guarantees that I will be around then so I wanted to go ahead and send my warm
wishes to you all today instead. Happy Thanksgiving to all reading who
celebrate, and to everyone else… just enjoy your day.
May your day be filled with love, friends, family, food,
football or whatever could possibly make this day special to you. Enjoy and
remember, those $1.50 towels at Wal Mart and those “cheap” TV’s aren’t worth it
people. They aren’t. Enjoy your day and thank you for your continued support of
the blog.
Especially you. Hey you. I loves you. Everything I am is
because of you so everything I am thankful for begins and ends with you. You
are at the center of everything, you are my universe. You are my soul. You are
my heart. I love you.
Good morning everyone and welcome to the weekend. Some
people don’t consider the weekend actually being the weekend until Saturday
since most have to work on Friday so if you’re one of those people then this
post is for you. The great news about this weekend is that it is a long weekend
for most as the United States celebrates Labor Day on Monday, September 4.
Labor Day was created and is celebrated for the working
class hero who goes to work every day and keeps their companies and this
country’s economy moving. This is a day to celebrate you. You could work for
McDonalds, cut grass for a living, be a CEO of a major company or you could be
in the military (because that is one hell of a job and we wouldn’t have this
freedom to have holidays without you and your sacrifice and service) and this
day is for you. So remember that on Monday, remember what the holiday is for.
I will enjoy the day with my family and my reason for
getting up every day and working so hard and I hope that everyone reading this
does the same. If you can’t be with family or loved ones I at least wish for
you to be doing what makes you happy.
With that said, Happy Saturday! Enjoy your long weekend.
Especially you. HEY YOU. I love you.
Good morning everyone and Happy Independence Day here in the
states. Today is a huge day obviously for everyone living here in the USA and
it means so much more than a paid day off, fireworks and a barbecue with friends
and family. It means independence, the sacrifices given for our freedom not
only way back when in 1776 but every day since from our military and their
families and it means, most of all, freedom. Freedom to babble on here every
single morning. Freedom to put my opinions out there without major repercussions.
Freedom to be me.
Thank you to everyone who has served and everyone who knows
someone or is family to someone that has served. I truly appreciate each and
every one of you. This day would mean nothing without you.
And I am nothing without you, Kari, so thank you as well. I
love you… and hey you!

Wow Yankees family, we made it. We all made it another year and here we sit on New Years Eve. Here's to hoping that you did everything you wanted to this season and then some, and if not the good news for you is that you have a few more hours left. A few more hours to do what you wanted to do, say what you wanted to say and burn or repair the bridges that you want or don't want it life. Take it from me, do it now before it's too late.
Happy New Years Eve everyone. Be safe, have fun and forget those resolutions. No one likes a skinny, rich good-nature person anyway.

Good morning everyone and a very Happy Thanksgiving to you
all. In years past I have loaded down the site with content like I have every
other day on holidays such as today but you know what? Today as I sit here
watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade with my two boys I simply just don’t feel
like it, you know?
So enjoy the day off from listening to me ramble on about
this and that and instead enjoy the day of food, family, football and fighting
for stuff on sale at your local department stores. I joke about the latter,
kind of.
Enjoy the day and a very Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours
from everyone here at TGP. Much love.
I want to take the time to thank everyone and tell everyone Happy Veterans Day. Whether you have served domestically, abroad or are the family member or friend of member who has I applaud you for your sacrifice and your strength. Some may not appreciate the things you do and the hardships you endure but I certainly do.
And an extra Thank You to Mr. Ken Reed and Mr. patrick (always with a little “p”) Walsh for their service and continued support and efforts on the site and in the comments section of the site. Thank you!
Happy Halloween everyone! I know I give the MLB schedule makers a lot of grief throughout the season but who would have thought to put Halloween on a Monday? Like come on guys, plan better next time :) All joking aside I hope everyone has a great day today and stays safe with their loved ones.
I have a Bonnie (Five Nights at Freddy's) and a dinosaur to walk around tonight and I couldn't be happier about it. Enjoy your day and Happy Monday!
Happy Labor Day from The Greedy Pinstripes. What is Labor Day? Is it simply an excuse to not go to work and get paid for it? Is it an excuse to day drink on a Monday and grill out with the family and friends? Well kinda, yeah. Labor Day is considered to be the official end of summer and it was a day given to the American worker that kept the American economy and such going.
So thank you to everyone who makes Labor Day possible and thank you to everyone for your continued support of this blog and everything it does. It is truly appreciated. Now stop reading and go start day drinking and grilling out and all that jazz. We'll still be here when you get back.
It's July 4th, the Yankees game is over and I'm taking the boys to eat some good food, see some fireworks and celebrate the nation's independence. I hope everyone that is reading this is reading it after the fact and is in a similar situation because that's what the day is all about, friends, food and fireworks. I leave you tonight with a good summertime music recommendation, "All Summer Long" by Kid Rock.
It's July 4th, the day the Unites States of American was truly formed and granted their Independence from the British. Thanks to our young and brave troops the country fought for their freedom and won setting the precedence for the rest of the world that Democracy was here to stay and this was just the beginning. You all know the history so I won't spend too much time on that instead I'll just say thank you to all that have sacrificed for this country and all that continue to sacrifice their lives, their families etc. for this country go give us the freedom and liberty that we all deserve to have.
Thank you from everyone here on The Greedy Pinstripes and thank you from everyone here in the Burch household, we are all truly grateful and appreciative.
