CJC: Injectable growth hormone releasing hormone

GHRP: Injectable growth hormone releasing peptide

IGF-1: Banned substance; stimulates insulin and muscle growth

Zinc: Essential mineral used as dietary supplement

Amino acids: Supplement aids in recovery and building of muscle tissue

Vitamin D: Immune system booster

Omega-3, -6, -9: Essential fatty acids

5-HTP: Boosts serotonin production in brain

DHEA: Testosterone precursor

Resveratrol: Plant-based supplement marketed as anti-aging agent

Melatonin: Hormone that helps regulate sleep and wake cycles

Glucosamine: Supplement used for joint and cartilage health

Alpha lipoic acid: Antioxidant that helps turn glucose into energy

Ibuprofen: Anti-inflammatory drug to treats minor aches and pains

That is the list of identifiable substances that Tony Bosch had allegedly supplied Alex Rodriguez. Note the word "identifiable", as there were other substances that couldn't be identified due to their abbreviations or legibility issues.

While I still don't believe the Yankees will be able to totally cut ties with ARod, seeing that list and reading more about the situation, makes me think that Alex's days as a Yankee could very well be over.

Keith Law Ranks Yankees Farm 10th Best In MLB

Keith Law, much like every one else in baseball around this time of the year, has released his rankings for the best farm systems in baseball. To no one's surprise the St. Louis Cardinals top the list and the New York Yankees come in at the ten spot. Law states that the Yankees system is very top heavy with guys like Tyler Austin, Gary Sanchez, Mason Williams, and Slade Heathcott sitting at the top. Law also stated that the Yankees system would be ranked higher had Manny Banuelos and Jose Campos not gotten hurt and Dellin Betances forgotten how to throw a baseball. Just an an FYI the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have the 30th ranked farm system in baseball.

Derek Jeter Ankle Injury Update

Derek Jeter has been cleared to resume baseball activities and has been seen down in Tampa hitting in the batting cage and fielding ground balls but has yet to run. Derek says that he will begin running when positional players report to camp on February 16th so we will all hold our collective breathe's until that first run is complete.

Predicting The 2013 Batting Order

Now that we have our primary DH locked up in Travis Hafner I figured now would be a good time to look at the potential batting order for the 2013 season. Now I know that Joe Girardi will flip guys around a lot and this will not be set in stone but let's take a look.

Meet A Prospect : Brett Marshall

Brett Edward Marshall was born on March 22nd 1990 in Highlands, Texas. Brett was drafted in the sixth round of the 2008 Major League Baseball First Years Players Draft out of Sterling High School in Sterling, Texas after going 10-2 with a 2.27 ERA  and 116 strike outs as a senior on his way to winning the All-Greater Houston Player of the Year award. He also batted clean up for that senior team and put up an impressive line of 10 home runs and 49 RBIs while hitting for a ridiculous .440 batting average. The Yankees offered him enough money to get him out of his letter of intent to Rice University with a signing bonus of $850,000 plus another $200,000 for his college education to go with a $7,500 incentive package that triggers as he moves through the Yankees system. With a 6'0 195 lb frame he is on the smaller side of big enough to not have durability concerns and will be entering his age 23 season in 2013. 

Brett Marshall is a recent Tommy John surgery recipient in 2009 and has come back healthier with a good season in 2011 with the Tampa Yankees and then a break out 2012 season with the Tampa Yankees and the Trenton Thunder. His first season removed from Tommy John surgery was in 2010 and Brett stopped in three Yankees minor league affiliates including the Tampa Yankees, Charleston Riverdogs, and the Gulf Coast League Yankees compiling a combined pitching line of 4-2 with a 2.57 ERA 84 IP with 70 Ks and a 1.06 WHIP. In 2011 he built on his first healthy season back from the surgery with a line of 9-7 with a 3.68 ERA in 140 IP while compiling 114 Ks and a 1.354 WHIP. In 2012 his final stat line was a 13-7 record with a 3.52 ERA in 27 starts and 158.1 IP. Along the way Brett compiled 120 strike outs to go with a .255 batting average against.

My Super Bowl Prediction

Unlike my good friend and partner here at The Greedy Pinstripes I do not feel as confident in the San Francisco 49ers chances tonight against a tough Baltimore Ravens defense. I cannot see Colin Kaepernick running all over the field against Ray Lewis and that interior defense like he has against the rest of the league.

Yankees Sign Four Minor League Contracts

The Yankees have announced four roster filling minor league signings.

The Yankees re-signed RHP Kelvin Perez after posting a 1.14 ERA for the Trenton Thunder and Scranton Wilkes-Barre (then) Yankees in 74.1 IP. Entering his age 27 season though this looks like a make or break season for him in pinstripes and his walk ratio, 3.9 BB/9, will probably be the only thing that keeps him from at least a September call up.

The Yankees also re-signed LHP Josh Romanski after posting a 4.97 ERA in 29 IP for the Trenton Thunder last season. Entering his age 26 season Josh will look to bounce back after an injury ridden 2012 season.

The Yankees signed RHP Chris Smith out of the Independent Frontier League after pitching to a 2.92 ERA in 129.1 IP. Last season he also put up impressive strikeout numbers with 116 K's and only 50 walks as he enters his age 24 season. He will not blow many guys away with a high 80 MPH fastball but he misses a lot of bats and sometimes that is enough.

The Yankees signed SS Leugim Barrosco out of the North American League out of the Independent League after putting up a .317/.345/.364 in 91 games last season. This Cuban born short stop will be entering his age 27 season and will look to improve on his 14 stolen bases he put up last season.

I do not see any of these four guys playing a major part for any of their minor league teams or the big league club but you never know until you throw them out there. Nothing wrong with a good depth signing.

Being a San Francisco 49ers fan* I can't help but write that I'm not only rooting for them, but I believe they will win their 6th Super Bowl tonight. The combination of a better offensive line, a better running game (thanks in part to a mobile quarterback in Colin Kaepernick, to go along with Frank Gore), a solid rush defense, and a blitzing pass defense (Flacco's numbers drop significantly against the blitz) should push things in their favor.

That's not to say that the Baltimore Ravens aren't good enough to pull off a victory. I think Flacco is a very underrated quarterback, Ray Rice is an excellent running back, and the Ravens do have a better group of receivers.

Anyway, enjoy the game.

*Some people have thought it weird that somebody from New York would be a 49er fan, so I'll explain... I grew up idolizing Walter Peyton, but didn't feel any sort of attachment to the other members of the Chicago Bears. So when Sweetness retired, I looked elsewhere and found Jerry Rice... the greatest receiver of all time. Since then I've rooted on the Niners.
