On this day in 1952 the New York Yankees beat the Indians twice in a double header in front of 74,708 fans to extend their winning streak to 18 straight games. The Yankees would win the first game 6-2 and the second game 3-0. The Yankees would lose their next game snapping the streak one shy of the franchise record of 19 straight wins when St. Louis beat New York 3-1.
