Quick Hit: Once Again TGP Calls For Kyle Roller

I feel like we've been here before once or twice already this season. Mark Teixeira goes down with some minor little thing that will only take three or four days, maybe a week, to get over and he'll be fine. The Yankees then run out Brian McCann, Kelly Johnson, Francisco Cervelli, even Brendan Ryan out at first place in his place. We play without our biggest hitter in the middle of the lineup, we sacrifice infield defense, and we play with a short bench. Why?

Call up Kyle Roller. You're not using Yangervis Solarte anymore and you're really not using Ryan either so why not call up Roller? Roller is a 26 year old left handed first basemen and a legitimate backup at the position, something New York has lacked all season. Roller has a triple slash of .274/.364/.474 with 10 home runs in Triple-A this season in 63 games. Roller started the season in Trenton where he batted .385/.486/.808 with nine home runs and 23 RBI in 21 games.

The Yankees need to get cheaper and want to get cheaper. The Yankees need to get younger and want to get younger. The Yankees need a legit backup option at first base and they have one in Kyle Roller. So what are you waiting for?
