The Jorge Mateo bandwagon is filling up this week after I read many stories across many media outlets and blogs this week about the future Yankees shortstop. Many of the blogs and pieces stated that Mateo may be the best prospect in the Yankees farm system including Luis Severino, Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez, Greg Bird and the slew of other top end Yankees prospects at the top of many prospects lists. That's quite the achievement and quite the pat on the back for Mateo considering that the young shortstop is still only in A-Ball this season.
Mateo turned just 20 years old last month and has already eclipsed the 50 stolen base plateau this season. How long he is going to stay in Charleston with the Riverdogs remains to be seen but with stats like these you would have to think it couldn't be for much longer...
