Goodbye to Knoda.com & The TGP Daily Poll

So i had full intentions of doing a TGP Daily Poll this morning when I went to Knoda.com and saw the post that I never wanted to see, Knoda has been shut down. We had a good run there posting our daily predictions and it sucks to see the site go down. Here is the goodbye letter from the Knoda crew.

Hello Knoda friends and family,

We are saddened to announce that we will be shutting down Knoda as of Tuesday, August 18th. This includes the iPhone app, Android app and the website here at knoda.com.

We want to thank everyone who supported us in our vision of making it easy to make and track your predictions. The support of the Knoda community is what made it such a fun and great place to interact. We are extremely disappointed we weren’t able to realize the vision we had for it.

Please contact us at support@knoda.com if you have any questions.

Knoda may be shutting down, but predictions are a key part of life. May you all have great luck in the future!

Thanks,
Kyle, James and the rest of Team Knoda

Twitter Poll: James Shields to the Bronx… Yay or Nay?

The New York Yankees fans are jumping off of bridges, running around like chickens with their heads cut off and declaring their never-dying love to their secret crushes in droves right now. The world is coming to an end and the sky is falling after the Yankees got swept by the Toronto Blue Jays inside Yankee Stadium this past weekend. The call for Cashman’s head, the firing of Joe Girardi and the need for a big move are ringing all across the nation and they only got louder when James Shields cleared revocable waivers this week. Earlier today I had my say in whether I thought Shields should be a member of the Yankees but I wanted to give you, everyone reading this, the opportunity to also be heard on a bigger stage. Sounds like the beginning of a Twitter Poll to me.

I’ve had my say so I won’t beat a dead horse here. I think the Yankees are fine and I think they are getting that inevitable cold streak out of the way in early August rather than late September. It’s not always the best team who wins the World Series or their respected leagues pennants, it’s the hottest teams. The San Francisco Giants and the Kansas City Royals were simply hotter than everyone else and rode the Wild Card One Game Playoff games into a hot streak and into the World Series. There is no reason the Yankees couldn’t do that in a Wild Card Game or an ALDS game after winning the division. I don’t think Shields is a necessity and unless it is an absolute salary dump where we give up prospects that I, the self-professed prospect humper, never heard of or care about then I think I have to pass.

Everyone has their own opinions and they are entitled to them, that’s what makes these posts special and the whole social media thing special (most of the time anyway). To be involved in our next Twitter Poll post head on over to the app and give @GreedyStripes a follow. Then be on the lookout for out next Twitter Poll tweet. We will not use your answers without letting you know first.

TGP Daily Poll: Starting a New Streak

The Yankees hadn't lost a series since early July before the Toronto Blue Jays came to town this weekend and took care of business. Now it's time for the Yankees to start a new streak with another series win, that starts Tuesday in Cleveland.

TGP Daily Poll: #TooManyDamnHRs

The New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays are both known for hitting the long ball and face off three times this weekend in the Bronx. Yankee Stadium is known for giving up its home runs, especially during the day, with New York will hitting more this series.

TGP Daily Poll: Sending a Message to Toronto

The New York Yankees need to send a message to the Toronto Blue Jays, their fans and the rest of the American League this weekend. While Toronto added and added and added at the deadline this is still the Yankees division, and upcoming series, to win.

Side note: New York has a great chance to win Game Three of the series with Masahiro Tanaka on the mound while the offense is likely to do something tonight for Nathan Eovaldi if history is any indicator of the future. The tough game will be Game Two with Ivan Nova and David Price on the mound. The Yankees have done well recently against Price but I think the lefty has a chip on his shoulder after being traded so you never know. I still think it’s a series win and a message sent for New York heading into the off day on Monday.

TGP Daily Poll:Yankees Call up Gary Sanchez

Brian McCann is considered day-to-day after damaging his MCL in his knee in Tuesday night's game. McCann is not on the disabled list and is said to be available if needed but I can see the Yankees giving Gary Sanchez the call.

It's worth mentioning that he hit a home run after the knee injury occurred if memory serves so I'm not extremely worried about his knee. Knee injuries for catchers suck though, so I'll be watching it closely. That's a huge bat to lose in the lineup.

TGP Daily Poll: Nail in Boston’s Coffin

The New York Yankees have a very important week this week as the team plays host to the Toronto Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox at home. New York will put the final nail in the coffin this week for Boston as they take the series from the Red Sox.

TGP Daily Poll: Yankees Win AL East Division

The July 31st trade deadline is over and other than a few smaller trades here and there or a few prospect call ups the teams are set for the Race for October. Toronto bulked up their team but it will be the Yankees that win the AL East Division race.

Vote in our poll on Knoda.com

And a short side now before I end the post, in the last 10 games both the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees are 6-4 and Toronto has made up exactly 0.5 games and only because Toronto played yesterday and won in David Price's debut while the Yankees were off.

Twitter Poll: Will New York Trade Luis Severino or Aaron Judge Before August 1st?

The July 31st trading deadline will come and pass next Friday with the New York Yankees expected to be buyers. It is definitely a seller’s market this season with more teams than usual out of contention at this point, especially in the National League. Like with any trade deadline for the most part you will have to give something to get something and many are worried that New York may have to give a Luis Severino or an Aaron Judge to get a Johnny Cueto, Cole Hamels or a David Price. I have my opinions on the matter, I don’t want to trade any prospects unless the deal makes too much sense, but I was more interested in what you had to say. Sounds like the perfect Twitter Poll question to me.

Like I said in the intro, if the deal is too good to be true and it involves Severino or Judge then you obviously have to pull the trigger. The only way a deal is too good to be true is if it brings in a player that has team control left on his deal and a player who is preferably on the right side of 30 years old. Cueto is a rental and is not worth Severino or Judge in my opinion but in the same breathe Price puts the team over the top and you more or less know what you’re getting out of the durable left-handed work horse. With Cueto and Hamels you have to wonder whether they can make it in New York, how much switching to the American League from the National league will affect them, etc. It is Price or bust if you ask me, which is why I asked you.

TGP Daily Poll: Another Series, Another Series Win

The Yankees have made it a habit of winning every single series they are a part of and that won’t change this weekend in Minnesota. New York may not sweep the Twins but they will definitely take two games out of three.

TGP Daily Poll: Robert Refsnyder Back August 1st

The New York Yankees sent down Robert Refsnyder to Triple-A in an unpopular move but after the July 31st trading deadline comes and passes I think Refsnyder will be back with the big league club. Refsnyder returns August 1st or before.

TGP Daily Poll: Yankees Acquire Two Players To Be Named Later

The July 31st trading deadline is next Friday and the Yankees head into the final countdown with a comfortable lead in the American League East Division. That doesn’t mean the Yankees will stand pat, they will acquire at least two players before the deadline.

TGP Daily Poll: Cano Goes Hitless

The New York Yankees and the Seattle Mariners kick off the second half of the MLB season in the Bronx on Friday as Robinson Cano returns to Yankee Stadium. Former Yankees usually kill the Yankees but not Cano, he will go hitless in the series.

TGP Daily Poll: Bryan Mitchell Heading Down to AAA

The Yankees face a roster decision regarding Robert Refsnyder, Carlos Beltran and Brendan Ryan after the All-Star Break. It seems obvious that Gregorio Petit will go down but the final move will be Bryan Mitchell heading back to Triple-A.

TGP Daily Poll: American League Reigns Supreme

The American League and the National League face off head-to-head on Tuesday night inside Cincinnati’s Great American Ball Park for Major League Baseball’s 86th annual All-Star Game. The American League will win this game.

Just for fun I’ll throw a score out there and say that the American League takes down the National League by the final score of 6-2.  Mark Teixeira will go hitless while Dellin Betances pitches a scoreless 7th inning. Brett Gardner will walk, steal a base and score a run in the contest.

TGP Daily Poll: Yankees Get Boston Strong For A Weekend

The New York Yankees are going to get “Boston Strong” this weekend and win the series with at least two victories over their rivals, the Boston Red Sox. A sweep would be better because it could bury Boston but I can’t see it happening.

TGP Daily Poll: Yankees Trade Robert Refsnyder

I’ve been saying it for months now. Robert Refsnyder seems discouraged and overall bored and “over-groomed” in Triple-A while the Yankees have shown no willingness to call him up despite his numbers. New York is going to trade him at the deadline.

TGP Daily Poll: Yankees Sweep Oakland

The first time the Yankees and Athletics faced off this season Oakland shocked New York winning three games of four. That won't happen again as the New York Yankees stay hot and sweep the A's in three games.
