New York Yankees Off Day Music Recommendation
The Yankees go back to work tomorrow in Boston when they take on the first place Boston Red Sox in a three game weekend series.Yeah I know that this guy sounds a lot like Eminem, and yes I know that he looks a lot like Eminem, but that doesn't mean you cant like him does it? If you can't for those reasons then honestly your not listening to music for it's true purpose, the enjoyment factor. This is almost like having a new Eminem CD to listen to while I am waiting on the new Eminem album to drop. Sounds like a win to me so check it out if you want to and enjoy the off day.

Welcome back Yankees fans! Now, on July 6th, I posted a poll about the Yankees First-Half awards. The poll had now closed and now it's time to give the results.
DISCLAIMER: I was not allowed/couldn't vote for anyone in any category in anyway. All of these votes are from you guys. Now that we are perfectly clear, let's start with the Pitching Category, shall we?
Brett Gardner quickly ran away (pun not intended) with this category with 69% of the vote. Robinson Cano came in second with 17% of the vote while Ichiro Suzuki came in third with 11% of the vote. Jayson Nix had 2% of the vote while Vernon Wells had 1%.

Who Is the Yankees Starting Pitcher MVP?
For this category, I listed the pitchers that have had either great or s0-so years. (Ivan Nova wasn't added because he wasn't in the rotation the entire half and Phil Hughes was plain terrible when I made the poll). So, here were your nominees for the Starting Pitcher MVP.

2) Hiroki Kuroda
3) Andy Pettitte
4) David Phelps
The Winner Is:
Hiroki Kuroda!
Hiroki Kuroda had a whopping 92% of the vote among Yankees fans. Andy Pettitte was second in the voting at 3% and CC Sabathia and David Phelps were tied with 2%. So pretty much Kuroda had this category in the bag.
Who is the Yankees Bullpen MVP?
Our next category takes us to the bullpen, where we have some of our top relievers that have outperformed above and beyond. (Shawn Kelley, Preston Claiborne and Adam Warren were not listed in this category because there was a specific category for them. We all know why Joba Chamberlain wasn't nominated in any category, so that's that.) Here were your nominees for Yankees Bullpen MVP.

The Winner Is:
Mariano Rivera!
Mariano Rivera had 85% of the vote, so it wasn't shocking who won. It was shocking who came second. Boone Logan had 11% of the vote and David Robertson came in third with 4% of the vote. I would have figured more people would have voted for D-Rob. Interesting.
Who is the Yankees Bullpen Standout?
Here is the category where I listed some pitchers that weren't in the other category. (Again, Joba is not in this category). These are some first time Yankees that have opened everyone's eyes with what they could do. Here are your nominees for Yankees Bullpen Standout.

Preston Claiborne had 63% of the vote among Yankees fans while Shawn Kelley had 34% of the vote. Adam Warren finished last in this category with 2%. I was surprised with Warren getting the least amount since he has helped out the bullpen so much as well
Now we move on to the Defense Category.
Who Is The Yankees Defensive MVP?
This category involved multiple players that have opened our eyes with their defense. Luis Cruz wasn't added to this category because he came after I already made the poll, but we could give him a pat on the back for the great defense he provided. Here are your nominees for Yankees Defensive MVP:

This is the final category of the awards. It also was the tightest race out of all the categories. I pulled up the Yankees best three offensive players throughout the first half and the winner...may shock you. Here are your nominees:

I know what you're thinking, how could BOTH of them win the Offensive Award? It was simple. The race was SO tight that by the time voting closed--they were tied. Both Gardner and Cano had 47% of the vote. Ichiro unfortunately was left in the dust with 7% of the vote.
And those are your winners for the Yankees First-Half Awards! Join me again in September after the regular season when we have 2013 Yankees Awards (awards that are for the entire year, instead of the first half).

Charleston Concludes July With A Eight-Game Homestand
RiverDogs end homestand with their annual Splash Day
CHARLESTON, SC – The Charleston RiverDogs return home to Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park for an eight-game homestand after a long nine days away from the friendly confines of The Joe. Charleston welcomes the Greensboro Grasshoppers and the Hickory Crawdads, and the RiverDogs currently sit near the top of the Southern Division standings. Charleston faces Greensboro for the first and only time here at The Joe after concluding a three-game block with the Grasshoppers last week. The RiverDogs will close out their season series with the Crawdads, after just visiting the ‘Dads last week in Hickory.
Thursday, July 25, 7:05 pm: Budweiser Thirsty Thursday
Enjoy the best Happy Hour in the Lowcountry as DJ Natty Heavy spins the tunes in the Ashley View Pub with $1 drafts for the always-popular Budweiser Thirsty Thursday. It’s also Strike Out Stroke Night as the RiverDogs team up with MUSC to bring awareness to the seriousness of a stroke. Former NFL player Joe DeLamielleure will be on hand to sign autographs in conjunction with Strike Out Stroke Night.
Friday, July 26, 7:05 pm: General Dynamic Land Systems-Force Protection Red Shirt Friday / Piggly Wiggly Postgame Fireworks / Miller/Coors Aluminum Pint Nite:
It will be another Red Shirt Friday as fans that wear red to the box office can save $1 off your ticket OR donate that dollar to local charity Canines for Veterans. “Titus the Wonder Dog” will be on hand to show off his batboy skills and multiple tricks during the game. After the contest, we will light up the sky over the scenic Ashley River with another Piggly Wiggly Postgame Fireworks show. It’s also a Miller/Coors Aluminum Pint Nite as fans can enjoy $2 specials on aluminum pints.
Saturday, July 27, 6:05 pm: Christmas in July / Craft Beer Saturday:
Celebrate Christmas in July at The Joe presented by the Salvation Army. Riley Park will be turned in to a virtual winter wonderland with snow, carolers, special Christmas themed jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game and a visit from Santa Claus. As seen on “America’s Got Talent,” Those Funny Little People will make their South Carolina debut to add to the festivities. Also, enjoy craft beer specials that will be on tap including Leinenkugel Summer Shandy, Third Shift Amber Lager and more. Kids get the chance to have fun and run the bases after everySaturday home.
Sunday, July 28, 5:05 pm: Kids Club Sunday / Daddy-Daughter Princess Day:
It is another Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission and Crews Subaru Kids Club Sunday but this one will have a touch of majestic wonder as it is also Daddy-Daughter Princess Day with special ticket packages and a Princess Pavilion with great activities. Every Sunday game features FREE PARKING, members of the Kid’s Club will get FREE entry to the game and kids eat for FREE (kids 12-under will receive a coupon for a hot dog, Pepsi and chips).
Monday July 29, 6:05pm: Dogs With a Cause: Camp Happy Days / Dollar Dogs & Beers:
The double header will start at6:05PM with gates opening at 5PM. The game will consist of two seven inning games. Dogs With a Cause presented by Camp Happy Days. Each Tuesday the RiverDogs team with MUSC Wellness to promote healthy lifestyle choices. Tuesdays at The Joe feature a healthy menu item and lifestyle tips throughout the game. The new 2-for-$20 Date Night includes two tickets, two slices of pizza, two sodas and one popcorn all for $20. Also, local Italian restaurant Fontana presents the "Lucky Couple of the Game" as one fortunate pair will be selected at random to win a free and romantic Italian dinner for two. The restaurant will bring in two specialty dishes and the couple will enjoy that dinner in a singular seating arrangement down the right field line while enjoying the game. It is also Shag Night, featuring a pre-game performance from the Beach Music and Shag Preservation Society and DJ Andy Todd.
Wednesday July 31, 12:05 pm: Big Splash Day / Senior Wednesday:
It’s our annual Big Splash Day, so come prepared to get wet and have fun. Wear your bathing suit as our ball park is turned into a water park. It’s also another Senior Wednesday presented by AAA Carolinas. All seniors who enter the gates will get a free hot dog, soda and bag of chips (must 65 and older). Late Comeback Effort Falls Short
in 8-6 Loss to Muckdogs

Staten Island, NY – July 17th – The
Staten Island Yankees rallied for four runs in the bottom of the eighth, but fell
to the Batavia Muckdogs 8-6 on Wednesday night.
Staten Island took an early 1-0 lead in the first when second baseman
Derek Toadvine scored on an RBI double to left by Yeicok Calderon. Toadvine had
reached on a fielding error by Muckdogs’ shortstop Javier Lopez, and moved to
second when Trevor Williams committed a throwing error on a pickoff attempt.
The Muckdogs then retaliated with a three-run second. After walking three batters with one out,
Yankees’ starter Cale Coshow gave up a run-scoring single to Justin Bohn.
Batavia centerfielder Yefri Perez then reached on a fielding error by shortstop
John Murphy, allowing both Scott Carcaise and Sharif Othman to come home.
Batavia added another run in the third when Avery Romero was plated on
a single by Carcaise. After that, Coshow was replaced on the mound by Sam
Agnew-Wieland. Coshow lasted just 2.2 innings, surrendering four runs – two
earned – off four hits and three walks, while striking out two.
In the top of the fifth, the Muckdogs picked up a run after Austin Dean
and Felix Munoz hit back-to-back doubles to make it 5-1.
Two runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh, gave Batavia a
seven-run advantage. In the sixth, Carlos Lopez hit a two-run double; and then
in the following frame, Othman singled in Romero.
The Yankees rallied for four runs in the bottom of the eighth.
Back-to-back singles by Eric Jagielo and Yeicok Calderon put runners on first
and second before Kale Sumner walked. Bubba Jones then singled on a line drive
to right to plate Jagielo.
After Justin Jackson replaced Reid Redman on the mound for the
Muckdogs, John Murphy singled on a ground ball to center to score Calderon.
Sumner and Jones later came home on a single off the bat of Radley Haddad to
make it 8-5.
In the bottom of the ninth, Calderon hit a 1-1 pitch over the centerfield
wall to put the Yankees within two runs.
Coshow took the loss, while Jackson earned the win for Batavia. Jackson
allowed four earned runs off six hits in 4.1 innings. He fanned eight batters.
The Yankees will take on the Batavia Muckdogs again tomorrow at home.
First pitch is scheduled for 11:00AM. RHP Giovanny Gallegos (2-1, 2.89 ERA)
will toe the mound for the Yankees, while RHP Max Garner (0-0, 1.00 ERA) is
expected to get the ball for the Muckdogs. Tickets are on sale now by calling

Greensboro Smashes Way By RiverDogs
Former UNC Tar Heel Colin Moran homers in first at-bat as a professional
GREENSBORO, NC – The Greensboro Grasshoppers jumped out to an early 3-1 lead and would hold on to defeat the Charleston RiverDogs by a final of 4-3 Wednesday evening at NewBridge Bank Park in South Atlantic League action.
With the loss, the RiverDogs fall to 12-11 in the second half and 51-40 overall. With the victory, the Grasshoppers improve to 13-12 in the second half and 46-48 overall.
Following a scoreless top of the first inning, Greensboro would get on the board first with two outs in the bottom of the first, as Colin Moran belted a solo homer for the early 1-0 lead. Moran was making his professional debut after being selected by the Miami Marlins with the sixth overall pick in this year’s draft out of the University of North Carolina. Moran finished his night 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk.
Charleston answered with a run of their own on a RBI groundout by Aaron Gates in the top half of the second inning scoring Jake Cave. Cave doubled to lead off the inning and advanced to third on a groundout by Reymond Nunez.
The Greensboro bats were back at it in the bottom half of the second inning as two more runs would come across on a two-run homer by Jose Behar, his first of the season.
In the top of the third, the RiverDogs struck for two runs to tie the game at three. Charleston started the inning off with four straight singles plating both Danny Oh and Cito Culver for the RiverDogs final runs of the evening. Charleston was led offensively by Danny Oh, Cito Culver and Angelo Gumbs who each had a pair of singles on the night.
The games winning run came across in the bottom of the fourth inning for the Greensboro Grasshoppers. Following a leadoff single by Viosergy Rosa, he would then steal second during the next at-bat. Rosa would come around to score a few batters later on an RBI single by Cameron Flynn.
Grasshoppers starter Austin Brice (6-6) picked up the win as he went 5.1 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Jheyson Manzuetta relieved Austin Brice in the sixth and went 1.2 innings in relief and allowed just one hit and recorded one strikeout. Manzuetta then gave way to Mason Hope who allowed a hit, one walk and hit a batter in his 1.2 innings of work. Picking up the final out was Frankie Reed to earn his 12th save of the season.
RiverDogs starter Daniel Camarena (2-4) took the loss, but was able to give Charleston five innings Wednesday night. He allowed four runs on five hits with two strikeouts and no walks.
Camarena was relieved by Adam Smith to start the sixth and Smith lasted two innings, as he allowed no hits but walked one and struckout two. Derek Varnadore pitched the eighth inning for the RiverDogs and allowed a walk and struckout one.
Game two of this three game series against the Grasshoppers is scheduled for 7pm Thursday at NewBridge Bank Park in Greensboro. Charleston sends RHP Cesar Vargas (3-3, 3.21 ERA) to the mound as Greensboro counters with LHP Chad James (1-2, 5.51 ERA). This Day In New York Yankees History 7/18
On this day in 1921 Yankees slugger Babe Ruth became the all time home run king when he hit his 139th home run of his career. If memory serves he went on to hit a few more after that in his storied career.
On this day in 1999 on Yogi Berra Day the Yankees pitcher David Cone became the third Yankee in their history to throw a perfect game. David Cone would become the 16th player in Major League history to achieve the feat.
