Game 54 Lineup: Red Sox vs. Yankees

Brand new series, so it's a clean slate. But here are some familiar faces to help the Yanks in their quest to beat the Red Sox. Here's the lineup.

Brett Gardner CF
Kevin Youkilis DH
Robinson Cano 2B
Mark Teixeira 1B
Vernon Wells LF
Jayson Nix SS
David Adams 3B
Ichiro Suzuki RF
Chris Stewart C

CC Sabathia P

Notes:

-- The Yankees have officially sent down Vidal Nuno and Ivan Nova to Triple-AAA Scranton to make room for Teixeira and Youkilis on the roster.

  1. Delia, bottom line is this line-up is still weak 6-9, Yanks can only tread water so long, without a healthy Tex, Youk, Jeter, and A-Rod this team will not contend. The good pitching and timely hitting can only take you so far.

  2. Sometimes coaches out think themselves, how do the Sox start Gomes .180 in the 2 spot, Ross.192, Bradley .114, and Drew .214. This has really helped CC.

  3. People tend to take for granded pitchers like CC and Kuroda , there are only a handful of pitchers that are good for 5 years in a row. Strasburg goes down with injury, maybe the Nats were right to shut him down last year.

  4. Not really Doug the fact that they shut him down but he got hurt anyways does not make them look good at all

  5. Matt, it's not about looking good, it's about doing the right thing after Tommy John surgery.

  6. The fact that he got hurt again means it really didn't matter that they shut him down

  7. Strasburg's injury is just an oblique...nothing arm related. Still a questionable decision last yr...I think you have to go for it when you're that close. Strasburg and Harper both on the shelf right now.

  8. fishjam, I'll give you that to a certain extent, but the Nats are losing due to the collapse in their hitting. their pitching has been pretty good. Baseball is a funny game, the Braves are in front in the East with 2 hitters hitting way under the Mendoza line.

  9. It was kind of like the Santana No Hitter with the Mets, you pitch him and you risk the chance of losing him for good.

  10. Hey guys will be home from vacation today and will get my side of things going tomorrow. Was nice to be away for that awful mets series. Hope to see Andy do well tonight. Cheers. Matt s.

  13. fishjam, Strasburg's injury turns out to be a lat injury, why can't they get these injuries correct, makes them look bad.
