Michael Pineda, Alex Rodriguez, & Derek Jeter Rehab

Three Yankees stars appeared in rehab games last night and we have the updates for you. Derek Jeter and Michael Pineda were in games with the AAA Scranton Wiles Barre Railriders and Alex was playing for the Tampa Yankees.

Derek Jeter went 0-2 with a walk including a ground out to third base and a line drive to the second basemen that got caught. Jeter played 5 innings in the field and only had one ball hit right at him and fielded it cleanly. The plan is for Jeter to DH in tonight's game and then reevaluate the ankle to prevent another major setback.

Michael Pineda was in the same game as Jeter and started the game going 5 IP allowing 2 R and 4 H with 2 walks scattered in there. Not exactly the overpowering display I was looking for to simply make Joe Girardi put him into the rotation and in the major leagues but he cane through it healthy and I guess that is all that matters. Pineda did have 7 K's though and threw 78 pitches in the campaign while hitting 92-93 MPH on the gun so that is encouraging. Pineda's rehab window is over on Monday so the Yankees have to activate him off the DL and either option him to the minors or call him up to the majors. Unless they want to use him as a reliever I see them leaving him in Scranton since he never got over 80 pitches in a game and could use the extra work to build up his arm.

Alex Rodriguez went 1-2 with a single and a hit by pitch with a run scored for the High A Tampa Yankees last night. The single was right back up the middle in case you were wondering. Alex played six innings at third base with two ground balls and a line drive hit his way fielding all three cleanly.
