This Day In New York Yankees History 8/27


On this day in 1938 Yankees slugger Joe DiMaggio hit three consecutive triples in an 8-7 Yankees victory over the Cleveland Indians in the first game of a double header.


Also on this day in 1938 Yankees pitcher Monte Pearson becomes the first pitcher to throw a no hitter in Yankees Stadium in a 13-0 victory over the Indians. Pearson walked two batters but only faced the minimum 27 batters thanks to two double plays.
