Pineda's quality start gives Yankees 4-1 win over Red Sox

Michael Pineda gave up just 1 earned run in 6 innings and David Phelps followed him with a perfect 7 out save tonight as the Yankees bounced back to win this series' opener over the Red Sox, 4-1. Through four frames here, Pineda impressively didn't give up a hit, before eventually finishing up with 2-walk, 7-strikeout line.

Anyway, the offense this evening struggled in the early going, but in the bottom of the fourth they suddenly got hot, putting two runs on the board thanks to an RBI Single from Brian McCann and Double Play with a man on third from Alfonso Soriano. After that, the bats struck a couple more times in the fifth, when Dean Anna hit his first career home run and Jacoby Ellsbury connected on a run-scoring single.

Besides those guys, Derek Jeter and Carlos Beltran also contributed to this W, as Jeter went 2-for-4 with a single and a double and Beltran went 1-for-3 to stretch his current hitting streak to four.
