My Early Spring Predictions of the Lineup

The New York Yankees and their starting lineup is where manager Joe Girardi and I probably disagree the most. Not that I know any more than he does, lord knows I don’t because the Yankees organization knows more than they ever release, but I tend to think after all my research and all the years I have watched, studied and written about baseball exclusively that I could hold my own in a debate with the old skipper. So here I will give who I think Girardi will pencil in one day one of the 2016 season and below I will note any changes I personally would make for whatever they are worth.

Jacoby Ellsbury – CF
Brett Gardner – LF
Alex Rodriguez – DH
Mark Teixeira – 1B
Carlos Beltran – RF
Brian McCann – C
Chase Headley – 3B
Didi Gregorius – SS
Starlin Castro – 2B

I love having the idea of Castro and his right-handed bat in the #2 hole much like Derek Jeter was for 20 seasons in New York. Having Castro in the second hole drops Gardner down to the 8th spot leaving Didi in the 9th spot, unless Headley sits in the 9th spot where his production warrants.

  1. If I remember right, I had this line-up after Castro was traded for:
    Jacoby Ellsbury – CF
    Starlin Castro – 2B
    Alex Rodriguez – DH
    Mark Teixeira – 1B
    Carlos Beltran – RF
    Brian McCann – C
    Chase Headley – 3B
    Didi Gregorius – SS
    Brett Gardner – LF

  2. This is the one I would like to see:
    Jacoby Ellsbury – CF/Aaron Hicks
    Starlin Castro – 2B
    Alex Rodriguez – DH
    Mark Teixeira – 1B
    Carlos Beltran – RF/Aaron Hicks
    Brian McCann – C
    Didi Gregorius – SS
    Rob Refsnyder – 3B
    Brett Gardner – LF/Aaron Hicks
With Refsy and Castros' spots being inter changeable in the line-up, IF Headley can't cut it again this year.

    1. Thank you Daniel, I thought you would like it.
Castro in the #2 spot gives him better pitches to hit, just like Jeter, now if he can hit about as well...we will be on good ground. Besides He is the type of guy that will move a guy over with a bunt if needed.

    2. Castro's OBP and batting average leaves much to be desired at the position but there isn't an obvious choice in my opinion in front of Castro. Gardner still strikes out a ton although his OBP is adequate. I just hate stacking the lefties.

  3. I LIKE....old Ken's line-up #2. I love fresh thought.

This negative stuff about GM's, and the Justin Wilson, and the Warren trade is nuts. It's done. Lets see what happens.
Sounds so similar to the Republican establishment beating up on their
top vote getter. Dumbest thing I've seen in my lifetime.

    Besides that it's getting stale.

    My take, my observations.

    1. Yep. And it's about that time- to sit back and enjoy it. Let's be honest, I can't see anything being as terrible as Stephen drew. Can only get better!

But yes, Republicans trying to do everything and anything to take out trump, unfortunately No one else is remotely interesting.

On the other side, Bernie Sanders doesn't have a chance in hell. They are decently close in the polls, but hillary has these superdelegates that completely destroy Bernie.

So much for democracy and The whole system is screwed.

    2. Daryl...
You have written some of the reasons why Trump is winning.
My pick is Ted Cruz but it isn't looking good for him.

Your statement: "So much for democracy and The whole system is screwed", has a flaw or two!
      1st...This is a Republic, not a Democracy.
2nd...It is our own fault, our party stays home if the guy picked for the Republican Party has not met their idea of what they want for President. A bunch of pansies, don't vote then complain the loudest. I have had it with those voters (non-voters).
3rd...The idea is to Search & Destroy the Liberals! The Liberals have been trying (and doing very well) over the last 50 years to destroy the American dream "Be All You Can Be!"
One can't make a deal with the Dems' but yet, many keep trying. The Dems' never keep their end of the deal. How many times do we hear them make a deal to build the fence and once they get what they wanted, it's all over! Ted would never make a deal with the Dems', you can count on that!
