RiverDogs Spread Holiday Cheer with Specialty Ticket Packages Now Available

RiverDogs Spread Holiday Cheer with Specialty Ticket Packages Now Available
RiverDogs holiday packages now available for the 2017 season

CHARLESTON, SC – With a countdown until Opening Day already beginning, it’s not surprising the Charleston RiverDogs are already dreaming of happy holidays this year. In the spirit of giving, the RiverDogs have announced specialty holiday ticket packages as the perfect gift for a baseball fan in the Lowcountry this year.

“It’s not too early to start thinking about the holidays, and certainly not too early to get excited about the upcoming season at The Joe,” said RiverDogs President and General Manager Dave Echols. “What better way to spread a little cheer than with a trip to the ballpark?”

A RiverDogs holiday pack includes everything a starving baseball fan with visions of summer dancing in their heads could hope for. Fans have the option of a five-game flex package with a RiverDogs knit cap to stay warm during the Hot Stove season or coffee mug for a sip of steaming hot chocolate. Vouchers are redeemable for any of the 70 RiverDogs home games excluding Opening Night on April 6 or the Independence Day Celebration on July 3.

Knit cap packages range from a five game flex package in the grandstand sections costing $50, $90 for the field view sections, and $100 for diamond view. The prices for the coffee mug packs are $45, $85, and $95, respectively.

Fans that find their very own RiverDogs holiday pack nestled under their tree on Christmas morning can stay in the giving spirit and redeem all five vouchers at once or savor the gift that keeps on giving throughout the 2017 season.

RiverDogs season tickets, half-season ticket packages and mini plans are now available for the 2017 campaign. The RiverDogs begin the season on April 6 when they host the Lexington Legends at Joseph P Riley, Jr. Park. Ticket information can be secured by contacting the box office at (843) 577-DOGS (3647) or online at www.riverdogs.com.

Atlanta Braves to Open SunTrust Park Against the Yankees

As a displaced Yankees fan living in Metro Atlanta, Georgia and as a Yankees fan that loves and misses his team like no other I only have one word to describe what I am just about to tell you. Hallelujah.

The New York Yankees are still very much in the playoff race in 2016 and presumably have not even thought about next month, let alone next year, but that hasn’t stopped the organization from making plans for the 2017 season. See the Atlanta Braves are opening a new stadium in 2017 called SunTrust Park and the team will open up and unveil the new stadium in an exhibition game at the end of spring training against none other than the Bronx Bombers.

The Braves say this game will only be available to season ticket holders but I say if I check StubHub and Ticket Monster enough I think I’ll find a pair of seats. The game will take place on March 31, 2017 and frankly I absolutely cannot wait. I’ll be there or you all have permission to take my Yankees fan card and burn it.

What great news this is! Awesome.

The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on the YES Network locally and MLB TV wherever you are.

Game Thread: New York Yankees vs. Texas Rangers 6/29

The New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers are back in the Bronx and readying themselves for the third game in their big four-game set this week. This series has been an especially frustrating one for the Yankees and their fans but that can all be turned around tonight with a big offensive outburst and an even bigger win. The Yankees have the right man on the mound to get that victory too as New York sends Masahiro Tanaka to the mound to face off with the Rangers starter Nick Martinez. The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on the YES Network locally and MLB TV wherever you are.

The Yankees have one more game in the Bronx tomorrow night before making the long trip out west to face off with the San Diego Padres over the weekend. If you want to see that game live or if you just want to get your tickets secured now for the next time the Yankees are back in town click the Yankees Tickets link at the top of the blog to get your tickets now. Don’t Be Fooled, the StubHub Agreement is NOT a Good Thing for Fans

The New York Yankees reached an agreement with StubHub to let the ticket reseller become the official place to go to buy your New York Yankees tickets. The Yankees Ticket Exchange is a thing of the past, and good riddance, but don’t be fooled into thinking the StubHub agreement will be a good thing for the fans either. In fact, this may hurt the fans even more and is a deal that was put into place simply to line the pockets of the Steinbrenner family. Imagine that, right?

The deal with StubHub was made for six-and-a-half years and a cool $100 million and that deal starts on July 15, 2016. In the deal the Yankees have taken away the option to get a last minute ticket for well under the retail and face value of the ticket, the Yankees couldn’t have that no, and have replaced it with a “floor” or a minimum purchase price for said ticket. So the Yankees would rather the ticket go unsold and miss out on potential merchandise, vending, parking and other sales inside the stadium and would rather set the floor at 50% less of the season ticket holders price. So if a ticket is $100 you’re not paying any less than $50.

The Yankees saw another 6.5% drop in attendance last year, and that was with Joe Torre Day and Bernie Williams Day and this day and that day which they will not have in 2016, in a year where overall attendance was once again up in Major League Baseball. The YES Network ratings, which the Steinbrenner are still minority owners in, are down too. Now the Yankees are making it even more expensive and even more of an inconvenience to head to the stadium to see a last place or second-to-last place team struggle to score runs and blow leads left and right on days where the three-headed monster are unavailable. Sounds legit to me.

The Yankees also didn’t lift their ban on print-at-home tickets in the deal. Why? It’s not fraud, the Yankees honored an average of five fraudulent tickets a game last year which is what Hal Steinbrenner spent on drinking alone this weekend, but it’s because they wanted to screw StubHub and force people to their Ticket Exchange. The ticket exchange is gone and the fans still suffer. But hey, Lonn Trost can sleep well at night knowing that people who can’t normally afford premium seats in the stadium aren’t sitting there. Because no one is sitting there. Idiot.

Yankees, StubHub Announce New Deal

The Yankees Ticket Exchange is gone. Here is the official press release from the Yankees:

NEW YORK and SAN FRANCISCO – June 27, 2016 – The New York Yankees today announced a landmark, multi-year sponsorship agreement with StubHub, designating the company as the official fan-to-fan ticket resale marketplace of the New York Yankees.

The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The new product will allow StubHub to be completely integrated into the Yankees ticket system, replacing the Yankees Ticket Exchange. The new system will be fully integrated and operational by Thursday, July 7. The first ticket availability will be for the Friday, July 15 game, and extend through the remainder of the 2016 schedule.

“We are committed to providing our fans with a first-class ticket experience, and offering the safest, most secure and efficient platform for our fans to sell and purchase tickets,” said Randy Levine, President of the New York Yankees. “This new product was the result of many productive discussions with StubHub, which will allow them to fully integrate into our ticket system. We are confident this collaboration will best protect our fans in the resale ticket marketplace.”

“The New York Yankees are one of the preeminent brands in professional sports, and we are thrilled to join with them to create a best-in-class fan experience,” said Scott Cutler, President of StubHub. “StubHub’s goal is to ensure that fans have access to games that they love to attend, and I’d like to thank both the Yankees and MLB Advanced Media for their willingness to come to the table and reach a positive solution for all parties.”

The custom sponsorship deal will provide new features and functionality that will greatly enhance the consumer experience, leading to increased user efficiency and fan safety and protection. These added features will prevent speculative selling, adhere to the Yankees advertising resale price policy, generate verified bar/QR codes, and provide fully integrated mobile capacity, for the safest and most secure way to transmit tickets.

The New York Yankees introduced a mobile ticket system this year, and the agreement with StubHub will adhere to the existing mobile ticket policy. All tickets delivered will be mobile. Tickets will operate on both iOS and Android devices. Users can post hard stock tickets, but upon being sold, all will be converted to mobile format. To date, more than 250,000 fans have entered Yankee Stadium using mobile tickets (primary and secondary combined), and by the end of this season, the team expects to have welcomed

more than 600,000 mobile ticket users. This anticipated number is expected to be the largest among all teams in baseball.

With this new, technology-led sponsorship, the Yankees will join the longstanding StubHub arrangement that is in place with MLB Advanced Media.

While other secondary resale platforms will continue to remain an option for fans to buy and resell Yankees tickets, only StubHub will be fully integrated with the New York Yankees.

As part of the sponsorship agreement with the Yankees, StubHub will receive full marketing and sponsorship benefits, including in-stadium signage, suite access, and use of official team marks.

Yankees Off Night Open Thread

The New York Yankees are off tonight as they travel home to sleep in their own beds before beginning a home stand against the Colorado Rockies. These same Rockies swept away the Yankees in a two game series in Colorado last week and New York will look to extract some revenge this week in the Bronx. First thing is first though, a night to rest and recharge the batteries. That's exactly what I am going to do as well so I leave you with this open thread for the night. Talk about whatever you'd like, just keep it cool and respectful please.

Game Thread: New York Yankees @ Minnesota Twins 6/18

The New York Yankees and the Minnesota Twins for the third time this series in the blistering hot afternoon in Minnesota. Some days I don’t feel for the players in the uniform despite what they get paid but anyway I digress. Game Thread: New York Yankees @ Minnesota Twins 6/17

Here we are again as we conclude another long week with another weekend that’s far too short and jammed packed with Major League Baseball. The New York Yankees kick off their weekend’s worth of games with the second of a four-game set with the Minnesota Twins on the road. Tonight the Yankees send their ace and stopper to the mound with an extra day of rest in Masahiro Tanaka as he looks to mow down and keep down the Twins offense. Opposing Tanaka for the home team tonight will be the LHP Pat Dean for the Twins. The game will be played at 8:10 pm ET inside Target Field and can be seen on WPIX Channel 11 and MLB TV.

The Yankees won’t be out on the road forever so click the Yankees Tickets link at the top of the blog and reserve your seats now for when the team does come back to Yankee Stadium before the good seats are all gone. The New York Yankees are making a quick two-game stop in Colorado to take on the Colorado Rockies this week with the first game coming tonight inside Coors Field. The Yankees are coming off an impressive home stand despite losing their last two games over the weekend and head into the game tonight fresh off their first off day in far too long. In the contest the Yankees will send Nathan Eovaldi to the mound to face off against the struggling Jorge De La Rosa. The game will be played at 8:40 pm ET inside Coors Field and can be seen on the YES Network and MLB TV.

Game Thread: New York Yankees vs. Detroit Tigers 6/11

Another Saturday is in the books for some, or just getting started for others, and now it’s time to sit back in front of the AC and watch as the New York Yankees play host to the Detroit Tigers inside majestic Yankee Stadium. In the pitching matchup the Yankees send Masahiro Tanaka to the mound to square off with Mr. Kate Upton, Justin Verlander. The game will be played at 7:15 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on FOX.

One more game tomorrow afternoon before the Yankees kiss the Bronx goodbye and head out back on the road to Colorado. Interleague play where the pitchers who have no business handling a bat have to handle a bat. Joy. Game Thread: New York Yankees vs. Detroit Tigers 6/10

Friday night baseball in the Bronx and it should be a good one as the New York Yankees stay home this weekend to play host to Miguel Cabrera and the Detroit Tigers. These two teams have had some bitter battles over the past few seasons and the Yankees have always played the Tigers tough even when on paper and in the standings Detroit was the better team. I expect no less out of the boys tonight as they send CC Sabathia to the mound to face off with Mike Pelfrey. The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on WPIX Channel 11 and MLB TV.

Three more games this weekend in the Bronx before an off day on Monday and a trip to Colorado to face off with the Rockies early next week. Click the Yankees Tickets link at the top of the blog to see any of these games live this weekend including Tanaka Day tomorrow evening. HOPE Week is in full effect and the Yankees are continuing their attempt and climb back into the race in the AL East Division. Tonight the man donned with the task of getting the Yankees out of this funk is Nathan Eovaldi who has not lost a start in over two months while the Angels counter with a man who has had a problem pitching to the Yankees in the past in Jered Weaver. The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on the YES Network, MLB Network and MLB TV.
